If you want to have a good life, perhaps way better than what you have at the moment, simple effective goal setting is very important. For you to accomplish the things that you want in life, you must have goals that will push you forward and will serve as a motivation so you won’t fail. There are two types of goals namely short term and long term.
Short term goals are the type that you want to accomplish in the near future. The key to short term goal setting is to make it simple and easily accessible. Long term goals on the other hand are the things that you want to accomplish on more extended basis like ten year plan. The key to setting long term goals is to ensure that they are obtainable. For instance you want to expand your business in ten years. You can reach this goal, for a longer period of time.
Now that you know the difference between short and long term goals, the next thing you need to understand are the things that you should do to when making your goals.
- Think of the things that you want to achieve. These are the different things for your personal or business life.
- Avoid setting the bar too high. You want to achieve goals that are quite difficult to obtain, both long and short term. But you should not make it in a point where it becomes nearly impossible to reach.
- Ensure that your business and personal goals do not negate each other. Your goals should go along side towards each other without affecting the other.
- Focus on what lies ahead rather than looking back in the past. You have to make sure that your goals reflect what you want in the future instead of thinking over what you did wrong in the past.
Simple yet effective goal setting is a vital aspect in every person’s life. Goals are important pieces of a puzzle and in achieving success because they allow you to move forward. Success in life is what many of us wish to achieve, however, no matter how great your plans are, if your goals are not realistic enough, you will not be able to reach it. Put some effort and take some time to work for it. That way, you are guaranteed to succeed whatever goal you may have in mind.
